Mr. Fraternity Pageant is hands down the funniest philanthropy event out there. Year after year, contestants bring the house down with laughter. A lot of preparation is necessary to make this hilarious event possible. Let’s take a look at how Philanthropy Chair Kelsey DiBenedetto and Assistant Philanthropy Chair Shannon Yarnoff, along with their MCs Caity McLaughlin and Emma Moredock, AST escorts, and fabulous judges, pulled off such a great event!
Caity McLaughlin, Emma Moredock, Winner Parker McCown (TKE), Kelsey DiBenedetto and Shannon Yarnoff! |
Kelsey Dibenedetto and Shannon Yarnoff:
What was the most challenging part of planning Mr. Fraternity?
Kelsey: “The most challenging thing behind the scenes was coordinating with the fraternities to get a participant. It was worth the effort but a bit of a challenge!”
Shannon: “The most challenging part was making sure everyone was present and making sure that the boys and their escorts knew how things were being run.”
What were you most nervous/most excited about before the event?
Kelsey: “It’s super cheesy but I was worried about all the little things that could go wrong. I mean anything: tripping on stage, music not working, awkward pauses, ANYTHING!”
Shannon: “I was excited to see what everyone’s talent was. I was also interested to see the crowd’s reaction to them.”
What was your favorite memory from the event?
Kelsey: “My favorite memory was, as always, watching the talent section. It was two sided because first I found it entertaining to see what each contestant came up with, but secondly, I knew they were up there because of an event I put together!”
Shannon: “The whole thing will be a great memory because it was an awesome experience and we raised a lot of money for a great cause.”
Emma Moredock and Caity Mclaughlin
What was the hardest part of being an MC?
Emma: “Pronouncing all the names correctly! I’m so bad with guessing pronounciations and I always second guess myself.”
Caity: "The hardest part was that I am terrified to speak in front of crowds and also Emma and I didn't have a script. Besides the questions we came up with previously, we ad libbed everything we said haha."
What was the best part of being an MC?
Emma: “The best part was experiencing the talents and laughs first hand. We could watch the crazy things the guys did then get to see the entire audiences reaction. It was really fun!”
Caity:"The best part was having people laugh at our questions and jokes. Especially the questions because Emma and I spent quite sometime coming up with them."
Laura Knopp (AST), Lauren DiRuggiero, Lindsay Nguyen, Kathryn Fox and Jena Frick judging at Mr. Fraternity! |
Lauren DiRuggiero (Tri Sigma), Lindsay Nguyen (Phi Mu) and Kathryn Fox (DG)
Why did you decide to be a judge?
Kathryn: “I decided to be a judge because I was one last year, I love getting involved with other sororities’ events, and Mr. Fraternity is always a fun event to be part of/attend!”
Lindsay: “When Laura Knopp approached me about it, I immediately thought: ‘This is going to be great!’ Who wouldn’t want to judge a group of handsome, talented men.”
What was the best/hardest part of being a judge?
Lauren: “The best part was being entertained by all of the great contestants. Some of them were really creative and funny!”
Lindsay: “The hardest part of judging was definitely scoring the men!”
What is your favorite memory from Mr. Fraternity 2013?
Kathryn: “My favorite memory from Mr. Frat 2013 was probably Chris Kane’s ribbon dancing routine.”
Lauren: “Tom O’Connor. Hands down (come one, who else would be able to pull off a wagon wheel cover like that?)”
Here’s what our well dressed escorts had to say about the event!
Kathleen Kalinsky: I mentally prepared because lord known I'm not the most graceful of people so I was just hopeful I wouldn't trip across the stage!
Connie He: I found out only an hour before that I was going to be an escort. Even though I've seen what the escorts did last year for Mr. Frat I still got really nervous beforehand because me and my clumsiness
Meredith Carothers: I literally had NO idea what I would be doing. I was nervous about doing something silly across the stage but I just decided to embrace it and go for it.

ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed my first experience with Mr. Fraternity, escort and all! The guys were all so great and good spirited about it, and I know a lot were there to have a good time and help out a great cause. ReplyDeleteSuch a great turnout again this year! Congrats to Kelsey and Shannon, you guys really put on a great show! I was laughing so hard I was near tears during certain "greek gods'" performances and enjoyed it so much. I have heard from many friends involved in the greek community comment on it, and I've heard nothing but positive things. ReplyDeleteEvery year I've had the privilege to attend has exceed my expectations! I am so proud Kelsey, Shannon, Luisa, Sarah, Emma, And Caity! Their hard work definitely paid off, I am so amazed with how well it all went. Even when the contestants did something completely unexpected (Rachels personal performance) there was no stress shown! However I know to make something that smooth there was a lot of not so easy and smooth background work. Thank you to everyone who put their time and efforts into this years! I can't wait to see next years!
