Rachel Degraba might only be 4 ’10 but she has 66 Alpha Pis who look up to
her. She took on the challenge of being our pledge mom and helped us to create
memories that will last forever. Rachel taught us everything we needed to know
about AST, stayed with us overnight in cabins at Camp Horizon, and helped to
plan endless big little surprises, but most importantly she turned a bunch of girls
in matching purple tank tops into sisters.
Rachel’s favorite phrase, “come love me” made all the new members feel like
they were a part of the AST family. There was never a dull moment at new
member meetings that Rachel would come to dressed in her favorite cheetah
print onesie pajamas. When she is not rockin' the onesie, she is always dressed
to the nines and looks like she came right out of a J.Crew catalogue. One of
the most memorable meetings was when a cricket showed up in the basement
causing Rachel to scream and frantically seek refuge on top of the table. Her
positive energy is contagious, and its impossible to be around Rachel without
having a smile on your face. One of the most meaningful parts of the new
member process was the last retreat in the basement that Rachel planned for
us. After the retreat we could honestly say that the 66 of us Alpha Pi’s were more
than just friends.
We love you Rachel and we want to thank you for helping us during the new
member process and so much more. You have taught us not only what it means
to be in Alpha Sigma Tau, but also what it means to be a sister. Thanks to you
we have become part of a life long sisterhood and whenever we wear our letters
we will be thinking of you.
